The original curtain wall at Fairfield Elementary Schools had reached its functional life. Leaks and air infiltration were complicating keeping the indoor environment at optimal levels. The Corporation decided to correct these problems through a replacement program that removed the existing curtain wall system and replacing it with new metal stud walls, insulated wall panels and windows. The building envelope on this 35,000 ft footprint was designed and installed for just under $750,000. An aggressive schedule was demanded as this project had to be completed during the summer months when school was not in session. Each facade of the building was addressed in the course of this project.
