Keeping the F-16 Blacksnakes Fighter Squadron operational is the priority at this base and one major part is keeping support equipment, taxi-ways ramps always open for business. A new four bay, drive through facility designed on a very compact site houses the maintenance and operations equipment. The building recognizes the need for both durability and economy in a pre-engineered format with a combination of masonry and metal siding and a long lasting standing seam metal roof. Inside, trench drains direct spilled maintenance fluids, melt and wash water to oil/water separators. The building's main mechanical systems are housed on a mezzanine level opposite the four maintenance bays. Interior walls and partitions are concrete masonry and vinyl faced insulation. Radiant heaters used in the bays automatically shut off when the overhead doors are opened. This 7,605 ft was built within a design/ build delivery method for $1.4 million.
