The Village at Brooklyn Pointe is a Senior Housing community developed by the Fort Wayne Housing Authority. The project is an urban infill development that is designed under the LEED for Homes program through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
The $1.5 million development is comprised of twenty (24) 1 & 2 bedroom units within three buildings on a four acre site. The complex has impressive curb appeal with high quality finishes, efficient floor plans, sound deadening between units, space maximizing built-in storage and are designed for full accessibility and easy maintenance. The solidly constructed, 2 x 6 studded, thermally efficient units offer a sense of quality and stability that is greater than what would be anticipated in housing designed to be affordable.
Brooklyn Pointe integrates many sustainable principles that benefit its residents and the local community. They resulted in a LEED GOLD rating. Included or utilized were high efficiency electric water heaters, air to air heat pumps, energy star rated fixtures and lighting, bike racks, walking paths, solar shading, drought resistant plantings, recycled content and sustainable construction practices.
