Weiler Building

The John Jay Center now resides in the newly restored Weiler Department Store. This 1920 building is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places. It was in a need of restoration with a leaky roof, broken windows, flooded basement, structural
problems, deteriorating masonry, mold and asbestos. The community realized its historic gem and banded together to salvage and restore the building.
MartinRiley provided the initial building assessment, completed the Section 106 process, designed for the remediation and
stabilization of the building and then designed the historic restoration and transformation of this historic and iconic
structure into the Community Education facility, the John Jay Center for Learning. It now offers technical as well as higher
education and community education to the region via partnerships with Ivy Tech, Indiana Wesleyan and Jay County Schools.
