ACPL New Haven Branch

A new 10,500 SF branch of the Allen County Public Library system replaced an inadequate branch for about $130/SF. The new facility—completed in 2004—is designed with a clerestory to bring in plenty of natural light. The exposed structure creates an interesting and an open environment. There is both a dedicated media center and children’s area. A separate multi-purpose room with outside access is available to the public. This was the first new building in the County Library’s, multi-building improvement program. Mechanical and building control systems that were designed into this building were later incorporated into the design for other new branches and renovations.
